Seaport Village

Seaport Village is located in the Marina District in Down Town. The west and south part of the site is bounded by the San Diego Bay with views of the Coronado Island and the Coronado Bridge. To the North it is bounded by W Harbor Dr. and to the East it is bounded by Manchester Grand Hyatt Hotel and the San Diego Marriot Hotel and Marina.

In it's close proximity is the San Diego Convention Center, Horton Plaza, Columbia District, Gaslamp District, and the East Village District.

The north of the site is bounded by W Harbor Dr., Pacific Hwy and Ketner Blvd ends at the site as well.

Currently the site is home to a couple dozen of restaurants and over 50 shops. Although it is a major tourist attraction, it is only busy during the weekends and it is underutilized during the week. Local residents mainly use the boardwalk by the bay, or the park on the peninsula that protects the private boats in the Marina.

Economically Seaport Village isn't doing so well, check link below.

As of currently there are no plans to revamp the marina area, and seaport village is not included in this new plan.
I propose to wipe seaport village as a clean slate, and act as a connective green space as well as my goal listed below to connect this new Embarcadero plan to the Embarcadero Park South.

Current goal: to explore ideas and develop a "model village" where it is totally self contained: have it's own recycling system, produces it's own energy, it's own food (entirely if possible), have it's own gray water system. Right now i envision it to be an open experiment where people who live there also work there, and visitors are allowed to come in to learn and explore the facility.

The site will include:
Housing, waste water recycling/treatment, energy harvesting/collecting, restaurants, food production and processing facility, park space.
